Designed by Mao (Kun) Chen, a Chinese artist based in Calgary, Canada. Mao works in various mediums, such as painting, ceramics, and installation exploring themes of socio-cultural identity, female representation and free expression associated with growing up in a male-dominated society. Mao's vision of freedom and expression blends the traditional and contemporary, positioning her work within a unique aesthetic realm. The recent ceramic works seek to explore the hybridisation and fluidity of her identity as an immigrant to Canada through explorations of form, symbol, and colour.

Working to reduce waste in her design process, Mao collects her broken ceramic pieces re-assembling them with other creations. As they re-fire they become one unique piece.
